The Guadalete River flows by El Puerto de Santa María, an active city of the Bay of Cadiz that has managed to combine its architectonics treasures and the needs of an important city in a captivating way.

The beach of La Puntilla, south-west from the city, is for recreation and leisure, meanwhile the mouth of the Guadalete was used as a sea harbour long time ago and witnessed the trading ships leaving for the so-called New World.
